Koyasan's Choishi Stupa Route
This marked path stretches about 24 km from Jisonin Temple in the foothills of Mt. Koya to Koyasan. The stone markers are shaped like 5-tier pagodas and bear inscriptions written in Sanskrit. There are 216 markers each every 109 m or so on the way to the mausoleum of Kobo Daishi.
Koyasanzan
The three peaks of Mt. Mani, Mt. Yoryu and Mt. Tenjiku that surround the sanctuary of Okunoin Temple are known as the “Koyasanzan” (literally “the three peaks of Koya”). They are today great places to enjoy hiking.
Koyasan Natural Park
This natural park lets one come in contact with the great outdoors of Mt. Koya. There is an activity center for learning about the forest, log cabins for spending the night and you can enjoy skiing in winter.
Koyaryujin Skyline
This mountaintop highway stretches 42.7 km crossing over Wakayama's tallest mountain, Mt. Gomadan, to connect Koyasan and Ryujin Hot Spring, known as one of the best three spas in Japan for a beautifying effect. The wondrous natural scenery can be enjoyed throughout the year.
