Koya/Kumano, having the ambience of miracle have been registered to The World Heritage as "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range, and the Cultural Landscapes that Surround Them" in June, 2004.

Shrine & Temple, Scenes
This sacred mountain, Koyasan was founded by Kobo Daishi fixing the mountains 800 meters above sea level as a basic school of Shingon esoteric Buddhism preaching the marriage of nature and universe. The place has prospered as a religious town including variety of religions without parallel in the world, handed over the religions and traditional events since its foundation including the head temple Kongobu-ji Temple and other 116 temples.
