Dojo-ji Temple14.Dojo-ji Temple
This temple was built in 701, which is the oldest in Kishu, a famous Tendai Buddhist Denomination temple. This is the place where Kabuki and Noh adopted as the scene of popular tragic love story with young priest Anchin and a daughter of the representative of the village, Kiyohime. A priest preaches by means of a picture of Anchin and Kiyohime with a picture scroll in one hand.

Sandan-peki Rock Cliff15.Sandan-peki Rock Cliff
A cliff with average height of 50m rising up about 2km of north and south offers a natural power by showing its appearance of the rock surface with strong breaking waves. Also, mysterious world can be experienced by observing the cave where once was a place to hide ships of Kumano naval force located at 36m below sea level.

This is a place of scenic beauty where large base rocks spread in the shape of a slope which reminds us of a large rock floor. The large base rocks are consisted of white soft sandstones, showing its magnificent scenery created by the erosion of washing wild wave. Also, it is known for its beauty of the view of the setting sun.

Engetsu-to Island17.Engetsu-to Island
This is the symbol of Shirahama and as the central part of the island has been opened by the sea water, it is known as "Engetsu-to Island". Formally it is called "Takashima" which is a small island floating on the ocean of Rinkaiura with its size of 35m of east-west, 130m of north-south, and 25m of height. The evening scene is especially beautiful.

This is a shallow beach where 600m of white sand seashore spreads. The beach said to have become the origin of Shirahama is one of the most popular beaches in Kansai area where sand beach is filled with colorful parasols in summer.
