Accommodations

Enjoy Wakayama-style hospitality, including guest rooms and dining

Wakayama has many ryokan (traditional inns) in various locations where guests can enjoy cuisine made from Wakayama's bounty of natural ingredients from land and sea. These ryokan often include baths which relax your body and soul, and the special brand of heartfelt Wakayama-style hospitality which will surely melt away the fatigue of traveling. One of the unique pleasures of traveling in Japan is wearing the yukata robe provided when exiting the baths. Some ryokan also have hot springs and rotenburo (open-air baths) as part of their facilities. Of course, modern, Western-style hotels are also available in addition to ryokan.

If you would like to gain a deep understanding of Koyasan, why not stay in the shukubo (pilgrims' lodgings) at a temple? There you can fully experience the solemn, mysterious atmosphere of Koyasan. Some shukubo also offer the chance to participate in Buddhist traditions, which is a unique Koyasan experience. You will surely never forget copying sutras or sampling shojin ryori (vegetarian Buddhist cuisine).
