Ume groves (Minabe Ume Grove/Iwashiro Ume Grove)

Minabe is the largest producer of ume (an apricot like fruit) in Japan. The ume blossoms bloom all at once in mid-February, announcing the early arrival of spring to Wakayama. Minabe Ume Grove and Iwashiro Ume Grove are especially famous, and are visited by many tourists each year.
