This is the second amulet-issuing temple among the 33 temples in the Kansai area of the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage. The name of this temple originates in famous water that wells up halfway up a sacred mountain. Below the Seijosui water that cleanses a person of his crimes, a "Zange to Shofuku no Mizuba (Penitence and Good Luck Watering Hole)" has been newly created. Also available are Yoryusui, which heals sickness, and Kisshosui, which brings happiness.

An unpopulated island with a mixture of ruins and natureTomogashima Island

Tomogashima Island is a collective name for four islands in the Kitan Channel: Okinoshima, Jinoshima, Torajima and Kamijima. There are brick ruins scattered among untouched nature here, making visitors feel as if they had stumbled upon another world. Use the Tomogashima Kisen to get to the islands.

There are many highlights on the large temple grounds.Negoro-ji Temple

This is the head temple of the Shingi Shingon sect. Its wooden pagoda is the largest in Japan and it has been designated a national treasure. It also has Shotendo, which rests in a pond brimming with water from the mountain and a scenic garden with waterfalls, ponds and other features.

Tama Cafe

This is a cafe in Kishi Station where the calico-cat stationmaster Nitama works. In addition to cat-themed drinks and gelato, it has cat stationmaster merchandise that makes a perfect souvenir.

Kokawaya sells jams made by local fruit growers. The most popular product is a jam sauce developed by a grower of Arakawa no momo peach. With a sugar content of 35 degrees Brix — slightly sweet — it has a fresh flavor that brings out the original taste of the fruit.

This gorge runs along National Route 371, which leads to Koyasan. Beautiful canyon scenery of the four seasons unfolds in such places as Inumodori, a viewpoint made up of giant rocks.

In search of a sake brewery that uses famous waterHatsusakura Shuzo / Sake brewing tour

This is an old brewery halfway up the Kino-kawa River, which was an important point for water transportation. The head brewer and company president will give you a tour of the inside of the brewery, which is registered as a national tangible cultural property. The water used is underground water from the Izumi Mountains, which has a stout flavor different from the mild Kino-kawa River water. A 720 ml bottle of Jummaishu Koyasan Hannyato is ¥1,250.

Water from a spring of well-known quality in a secluded region Yadori Onsen Iyashi-no-Yu

This is a hot-spring hotel facing Tamagawa-kyo Gorge, which is popular for firefly viewing and water recreation. The free-flowing, open-air bath has sodium hydrogen carbonate and chloride spring water with a pH of 8.7, and it took first place in the family division in the "2018 Onsen General Election."
